Guacamaya is a 4.2-hectare farm owned by second-generation producer Nery Pablo López, sitting at 1,900 metres above sea level near Ajul in Concepción Huista, Huehuetenango, Guatemala.
Shaded by native trees and intercropped with avocado, citrus, and peach, the farm sits in the shadow of the Cuchumatanes, Central America’s highest non-volcanic mountain range, where dry, warm winds from Mexico protect crops from frost and allow coffee to thrive at exceptional altitude.
Nery is a member of the El Sendero Cooperative, founded in 2018 to ensure local growers receive fair and timely payment, and now numbering over 700 members. This 100% Caturra lot was depulped, fermented overnight, washed, and dried on the farm’s concrete patio for around a week before delivery to the cooperative.
In the cup, this coffee tastes like orange marmalade and milk chocolate, with a honey-like sweetness.
We roast every Wednesday and ship every Thursday.
